Southern Arizona Animal Food Bank

Posted on June 1, 2026 by The Drive

Most people hear "Animal Food Bank" and think it's simply a place that gives away pet food.

The Southern Arizona Animal Food Bank does that, but it's so much more.

Every year, they help thousands of dogs and cats stay with the families who love them by providing pet food, pet supplies, and support when times get tough. For many seniors on fixed incomes, veterans, families facing unexpected expenses, or people going through difficult life situations, a little help with pet food can mean the difference between keeping a cherished companion or having to surrender them to a shelter.

Their mission is simple: keep pets fed, healthy, and at home whenever possible.

They also support rescue organizations, assist community members throughout Southern Arizona, and work to reduce the number of animals entering already crowded shelters. By helping people care for their pets before a crisis becomes an emergency, they're making a real difference for both animals and the humans who love them.

And with another Tucson summer upon us, they're currently seeking donations of dog booties to help protect paws from hot pavement. We all know how brutal Arizona sidewalks can get this time of year. A simple pair of booties can help prevent painful burns and keep dogs safe on walks.

Whether it's a bag of dog food, a case of canned food, a pair of booties, or a monetary donation, every contribution helps.

It's one of those organizations that quietly does important work every single day, and thousands of Southern Arizona pets are better off because of it. ❤️For more on SAAFB, click The Button!
