Every great business has a story behind it, and DJ’s Desert Classics started long before there was a sign on the building.
DJ grew up around cars at his father’s dealership. By 16, he was already in the family garage restoring cars and motorcycles. While earning his business degree at the University of Arizona, he kept turning wrenches, learning the details and building the experience that would eventually become DJ’s Desert Classics. Today, he’s an ASE-certified technician with more than 15 years of buying and selling experience.
But the résumé only tells part of the story.
DJ and his family are talented, honest, hardworking and completely down-to-earth. They’re the kind of people who care about doing the job correctly and treating people well. DJ describes himself as a technician first and a salesman second, and once you meet him, you understand exactly what he means.
They work on and sell everything from true vintage classics to modern performance cars and, yes, even collectibles from the ’90s. Apparently, the cars we remember as “new” are classics now. We’re still processing that.
The Drive Tucson doesn’t put its name behind a business casually. DJ and his family aren’t simply partners in our Classic Car Giveaway; they have become genuine friends of the station. We trust their knowledge, their workmanship and, most importantly, their character.
