Tucson International Mariachi Conference

Posted on March 24, 2026 by The Drive

The Tucson International Mariachi Conference is back, and it’s more than just music, it’s tradition, culture, and community all coming together right here in the heart of Tucson.

APRIL 29th - MAY 3rd, 2026

From April 29 through May 3, the 44th annual conference brings five days of powerful performances, hands-on workshops, and unforgettable cultural experiences. Since 1982, it’s grown into the longest-running mariachi conference in the country, and it continues to inspire generations through music, dance, and storytelling.

At the center of it all are the workshops, where students from around the world learn side by side with world-renowned mariachi musicians and folklórico dancers. It’s where tradition is passed down, skills are sharpened, and culture truly comes alive.

The lineup this year is packed:

• El Mariachi Canta Competition – April 29
A national vocal competition for ages 8 and up, with a chance to win a cash award.

• Student Showcase – April 30
Top participants compete for the opportunity to perform alongside professionals.

• Espectacular Concert – May 1
A signature night featuring Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández, continuing a 40+ year legacy of excellence.

• Fiesta Garibaldi – May 2
Live mariachi, folklórico dancers, local artisans, and incredible food all in one vibrant celebration.

• Mariachi Mass – May 3
A moving and colorful celebration at St. Augustine Cathedral, blending music, culture, and faith, followed by a release of white doves.

This event isn’t just about performances, it’s about preserving culture, building community, and creating lasting memories for families and future generations.

Even better, proceeds support children’s services through La Frontera Arizona, helping make a real impact right here at home.
