When Matt took over as Program Director, it felt like a Tucson kid coming home. A fourth-generation Tucsonan, Lineweaver, Vail Jr. High, Rincon/Sabino, he was raised by this town. He was asked to do what most stations struggle with: grow the audience without losing the listeners who built it. By honoring the station’s history while moving it forward, Matt slowly reset the music and tone to sound more natural and more human. What truly sets the station apart is the chemistry across the entire team. These aren’t just voices sharing airtime, they’re a close-knit radio family, and you can hear that trust, ease, and warmth on the air every day. Matt’s wife, Randi, joins him on Tuesdays and Thursdays, making them the only newlyweds on Tucson radio, another real-life chapter listeners have followed for five years. With veteran broadcasters alongside him, the station is performing at levels not seen before.
Ken Carr
Ken began his radio career in 1987 in central Nebraska and has been part of the Tucson radio scene since 2001. You’ve heard him on 93.7 KRQ, Z104.1, Mega 106.3, and now The Drive Tucson. Beyond being on air, Ken plays a vital role in daily station operations as Production Manager. He also runs What’s Up Tucson, the city’s most-followed news and info source on Twitter with over 125,000 followers. His love of made-up holidays helped The Drive Tucson earn a national award as Arizona’s Celebration Station. Ken loves Tucson, from the food to the weather to the people and we’re glad he calls it home. Ken is a beloved, local icon with a heart of gold. We love ken!!
Mikey Esparza
Mikey is the President of his P1 Nation and our resident "character-driven" personality. Mikey has one of those smooth voices that make you feel like you're being hugged. He has been broadcasting for over 35 years and began at age 17, right here in Tucson. Since then, his travels have taken him to cities like San Diego, Dallas and San Francisco. “I've been coming to Tucson every summer since I was a child to visit family. I have a love for Tucson deep down in my soul.“ Make sure to tune in to Mikey Monday through Friday from 3p to 7p. You will hear his cast of characters like Casey Kasem, Bob Ross, the Latin lover and of course, Cheech and Chong traffic.
Leslie Lois
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Leslie is a proud cheesehead and lifelong Packers fan. She moved to Tucson in 1999 to work for Bobby Rich and has been part of that radio family ever since. As Director of Commercial Operations, Leslie holds one of the most detail-driven behind-the-scenes roles at the station. She manages commercial traffic, making sure every ad is scheduled correctly, runs at the right time and length, meets client expectations, and airs exactly as it should. Leslie still gets excited by Tucson’s mountains, sunsets, and monsoon storms, often running outside to capture the rain and share it with listeners as the station’s “Rain Patrol Girl.” She’s married to her husband Keith, has three step-kids, co-hosts the podcast Love, Marriage, and All the Crap in Between, and is proudly known as the girl with the bright hair.
