The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (Compassionately serving pets and the people who love them) has saved over 1 million pets since 1944. They take in pets from all over Southern Arizona, assisting smaller shelters by taking in hard-to-place pets and pets with serious medical needs – pets who might not otherwise have a chance at life. The amazing people at HSSAZ heal pet's bodies and their hearts and help them find loving forever homes. They believe in the power of community.

Unlike many national animal welfare organizations, Humane Society of Southern Arizona is located right here in Tucson — providing care for animals in need 365 days a year. They are not a government agency and are not affiliated with any national humane societies. They rely on neighbors just like you to enable them to do this much needed work.

While much has changed over the last couple of years, there is one thing that has remained constant -- the need to save helpless pets across Tucson and Southern Arizona.

With your donations from Giving Tuesday on November 29th, they will be able to continue to save the lives of homeless pets in Tucson.

One of the many ways you can help HSSAZ is by volunteering! They can always use more help. How great would it feel to help a family find its perfect match? Or work a special event that raised funds for the pets in their care? There are so many ways you can help as a volunteer – from getting down and dirty with the pets to clerical work in an office. They know that they could not do everything they do for pets and the people who love them without their loyal and dedicated volunteers.

Volunteers donate more than 150,000 hours in a year. Wow!
