(June 8, 2020) TUCSON — The Drive joined with TMC HealthCare to pay tribute to some of the people who make our community better at the first ever Care-A-Thon, held on Saturday at The Core at La Encantada. Bobby Rich, Hill Bailey, Ken Carr, Mikey Esparza, Maria Mendez and Jason Crane teamed up for a day of broadcasting, interviews, laughter, tears, and the presentation of thousands of dollars worth of checks to several community organizations.
Throughout the day, on-air guests told stories of caring, hope and love that were truly moving. Dan Bittner talked about inventing an intubation box for emergency doctors, only to end up working on the project with the very same doctor who had once saved Dan’s own life. Joey Rodgers of Dancing In The Streets Arizona shouted and then cried as he received a $2,500 check from TMC HealthCare (one of many given out during the day).
